Het Kortfilmfestival Leuven maakt ieder jaar een roundup van het beste jonge filmtalent. Films die opvallen door hun originaliteit, hun meeslepende verhalen of hun oogstrelende fotografie en die ook in het buitenland niet onopgemerkt blijven. Selected Shorts verzamelt de 15 beste titels van het voorbije jaar.

Each year Leuven Short Film Festival puts together a roundup of the best films by young filmmakers. Films which stand out thanks to their originality, their captivating stories or their eye-catching photography, and which have not gone unnoticed abroad. The Leuven International Short Film Festival celebrates its 20th edition! The book "20 jaar Kortfilmfestival" doesn't only contain a fun scrapbook on the past 19 editions, but also and mostly text and explanation with the 50 most memorable Flemish Short Films and filmmakers that have been featured on the festival for the past two decades. You can find those 50 short films on 4 DVDs that come with the book. Directors Pieter Van Hees and Michaël Roskam have each written a foreword. "20 jaar Kortfilmfestival" is a unique edition, printed in small edition and only temporarily available.

This past year was a triumph for Flemish short films, as so many were nominated for prestigious awards and selected to be screened at festivals: an Oscar nomination, a Silver Mélies, a nomination for the Golden Palm, third place at the Student Academy Award.
